Strawberry - Fragaria 'Lipstick'
A perennial, intergeneric hybrid strawberry - a cross between Fragaria (strawberry) and Comarum (cinquefoil) - grown primarily for its ornamental value. Numerous small, five-petaled, deep red flowers with yellow centers appear from late spring to early summer and again in fall over a clump of tri-foliate, coarsely-toothed foliage that forms a bushy, compact mound. Its creeping, trailing habit makes it ideal for use as a beautiful, fast-spreading groundcover and as an accent plant for hanging baskets and window boxes. Best grown in humusy, medium moisture, well-drained soil with full sun to partial shade. Prompt removal of fruit encourages additional flowering. Deer tolerant. .5-1'H x .5-1'W. USDA Zones 3-9.
